Is there a cure for acne or does a teenager have to live with it?

I'm seventeen years old and I used to suffer from extreme acne.

I was thirteen when I started getting acne and it just seemed to progress non stop after that first pimple. It became so bad within a year that it looked like the cheeks on my face had first degree burns all over. I tried Clearasil, Clean %26amp; Clear, Neurtragena, Pro-Active, etc.

My mom and I got fed up and went to see a dermatologist and he prescribed me some sort of really expensive really complicated acne treatment. It took the acne down a little, but hardly did anything in the end.

So, I thought there was absolutely no hope at all and I decided to just give up. I stopped using face products all together. Never used a single one again.

I started vigorously scrubbing my face in the morning and at night with a warm face cloth just to get my face clean... then all of a sudden, my acne started to disappear. I hardly have any acne at all now. I may get the odd pimple now and again but after scrubbing my face that day - it's gone! So, that was my cure for acne: just no more face products. Is there a cure for acne or does a teenager have to live with it?
It depends on the seriousness. If it's the odd couple of spots there's not much you can do except keep a good skin care regime, look after your diet, drink plenty of water and do exercise to promote blood flow. Most teenagers will find their skin settles down by late teens/early twenties, or that spots can be covered sufficiently with make-up.

If the acne is particularly bad, ie. nodular or rosacea, or leaves bad scarring, or doesn't respond to anti-biotics, then there is last option of Roaccutane treatment, for which you need referral to a consulatant dermatologist via your GP. Roaccutane is very powerful stuff, and comes in tablet form. It is similar to a very high dose of vitamin A, and it quite literally dries you up from the inside out and clears the skin. It has some pretty unpleasant side effects too, hence it's only suitable for very bad types of acne, and is only available from a specialist.

There are other options such a light/laser treatment, although I don't know much about this.Is there a cure for acne or does a teenager have to live with it?

Hi,

Aloe Vera %26amp; Tea Tree are a great treatment for acne.

Here is some info below:

The watery gel from Aloe Vera plant is a highly effective natural cure against Acne. The enzyme-rich gel has very soothing anti-inflammatory and anti-bacterial properties. It can also be taken internally and helps clean up and detox the digestive tract. This in turn can help clear up the skin.

Gel or juice of Aloe Vera is highly useful in fading of acne scars. You can grow Aloe Vera plant in your home and apply freshly taken pure Aloe Vera gel to your scar. Otherwise many branded cosmetic companies manufactures pure Aloe Vera gel, so you can choose the best cosmetic companies to get Aloe Vera gel.

Vitamin A is also a natural and effective Acne cure. Vitamin A promotes healthy skin.

Vitamin E also helps in countering Acne. It is a natural antioxidant and beneficial for the skin.

Tea Tree Oil is obtained from the Melaleuca alternifoliais tree from Australia. It is very effective against Acne as it contains bacteria-fighting substances called Terpenes. Acne is often caused by bacteria and the Terpenes either outright kill them or weaken them enough to be destroyed by protective antibodies. There are very little side effects from using Tea Tree Oil.

I get mine from http://www.trustwilliam.com/en-GB/Ingred鈥?/a> on a 'Buy One Get One Half Price' with free delivery! They Supply 99.9% Pure Aloe Vera Gel with 'Vitamins A,C %26amp; E' and with 'Tea Tree'.

Hope this helps keep your acne at bay!!
eat healthy foods, drink lots of water, and keep you face clean. also keep your hands clean and away from your face so the dirt and oils don't transfer. keep you hair clean for the same reason. there are lots of acne medicines on the market. try one or more to see what works best for you.
Washing your face and putting products on like proactive, skin id, neutrogena, clean %26amp; clear all help prevent acne. However you might sometimes get one or two pimples, I think it all depends on how you feel and what you eat.
i lived with acne for years and got really down about it...i went 2 the dr eventually and was put on antibiotics which cleared it right up. id suggest u do the same, its such an easy cure and acne can be horrible :)
If it's mild or moderate just try dabbing rubbing alcohol on it once or twice a day. It actually works just try it.
