Cumin on my face to cure acne?

i read in various ';home remedy for acne'; sites that if you put cumin seeds on your face it cures acne. i was rummaging through my pantry this morning and found cumin the spice. can that be used the same way as the seeds where? like if i put the cumin spice in a little water to form a paste would it make the same effect?
