I have done extensive research on this subject, and I have concluded that your diet is heavily involved with the condition of your skin (contrary to what your Proactive pamphlet has to say). Vitamin A in particular is essential to skin regeneration and this vitamin is lacking in todays young peoples' diets.

I have used Fields' ';Proactiv';, Daniel Kern's ';Clear Skin Regimen';, and a variety of other methods involving topical skin medications. I have also concluded that these programs will work to a degree, albeit a temporary one. I found that after I stopped using topical appliers such as benzoyl peroxide and salicylic acid within a week or two, I would get some mild-moderate acne. But then I experimented around with my diet alitte and found out that when I cut things specifically grease-laden foods, SODA, and general sweetened confections I was much surprised to see a *significant* improvement with my skin.

The fact of the matter is that if you are not particularly active, your diet is primarily composed of crap, and you are still in your adolescent years, you are gonna get some type of skin problems. The best thing you can do at this point is use basic, proper skin hygiene, experiment with topical remedies, and improve your general lifestyle by throwing out trash food and start eating more things like fruit and vegetables. A combination of these things will result in a complete cure of your acne.

If you like to read about the problem there is an excellent book on the subject written by a plastic surgeon dr. Terry J. Dubrow who knows what the f*ck he's talking about. Ironically the title is called ';The Acne Cure'; can be found here: http://www.amazon.com/Acne-Cure-Terry-J-鈥?/a> If you can't convince your parents to buy it, start looking for it at libraries or bookstores. I own it, and I highly recommend it.What is a cure for acne?
All over the world so much research has been done to curb acne because it makes beautiful faces ugly and full of black prominent spots. Very many researches have been conducted and a few have tasted success. One of them is Acne Complex.
proactiv
My dermatologist said there's really no cure for acne but you can lessen them by using prescription stuff cause 4 me generic stuff doesnt work. Try defferin(sp) or retina-a-micro, they work pretty good.
Use a good cleanser (not soap). Don't use anything that will be too drying or too harsh on your skin. Use a good toner afterward. Toner is important because it removes the residue of the cleanser, which can possibly block pores. Get an oil free moisturizer. Take a good multivitamin, and eat right, drink a lot of water. If you do these things, you should see a great improvement in your skin.
If you want a home remedy, the best thing is water. Seriously. It sounds crazy but everyone I've met with gorgeous clear skin insists that ten glasses or more a day of water will keep your skin clear. Wash your face twice daily for 30 seconds to 1 minute (never 3 times--it increases oil--and never use ';mocro beads'; or grainy face exfoliating washes more than once a week). To add a healthy glow, intake as much vitamin C as possible, especially in natural forms like oranges and orange juice. But if you want a cheap spot-treatment, try dabbing Persa Gel 10 on your acne at night (available at most stores). It should clear your face in about three days.
proactive
witch hazel is mild but cleans the pores...its clear and looks like alcohol you can find it at a dollar store or even a cvs
proactive all the way but if u dont have the money go to beautifulskin.com
baking soda works very nicely for blemishes. and as an added bonus, baking soda balances out your skin's natural PH.

just mix a little baking soda w/water and GENTLY scrub your face.
OK lets be real, acne's a b**** and it's the worst thing to get over but its not impossible. The best thing out there for it right now is Acutane, but, it is not for everyone that's why it is only obtained by a Dr's prespription. Some people tend to be allergic to the medicine, for a few percentage it does not work for, but usually it does, for everyone, even though after you stop using it the acne comes back, like with every other medicine after the treatment is over. It is really harsh on your body though, for women they can't take contraceptives or have kids due to some serious problems that can occur while taking it, other people experience horrible peeling and dryness.

Apart from all this, i used to have acne, apparently not bad enough for Acutane (according to my dermatologist) but it was still bad (at least i thought it was), so i was recommended this over the counter medicine called ';Nature's Cure';. They have two medicines, one formulated for men, and another for women, and among these they have the topical creams and face washes as well as pills that work from the inside out. I personally tried the cream and face wash. Since i started using it i have yet gotten another pimple, seriously, my face is progressing miraculously, alot of the blemishes are gone, almost all. Smooth skin, it does dry it a little bit but barely, everyone's complimented on it. A few more weeks and my face will be completely clear. To help with this i also get facials done, everyonce in a while to help with the deep cleaning, which helps alot to remove stubborn clogs and blackheads and so forth.

I know not all of these over the counter medicines work for everyone, like myself that i've tried Proactive and Murad and all those things and i actually got my face worse due to them. But this one worked, see if you can find it in a neighborhood pharmacy or drugstore, or supermarket (which some of them also sell them), or online in their website.

About a diet, the main cause of acne is not your diet, eating chocolate or drinking too much soda, it's an old wife's tale, BUT a good diet will prevent excess oils in the skin which will clog pores and cause breakouts.

The main cause of acne are your body's hormones, we can't fix those with a change in diet. For me i go to the gym about 5 days a week, and excercise, this helps your metabolism break fatty acids that may affect your hormone production, as well as providing an overall well being for the body and get you nice and fit, a little blood to the old pump is sometimes the best remedy for current health problems as well as future undeveloped ones.

Stress is another factor that people a lot of the time don't consider, it does affect your acne because too much stress will trigger hormone production in the body and well you know the rest. Try to take life easily, i know sometimes it's hard but you gotta try, for my stress, excercise wipes it all out, and it usually does for a lot of people so think about it.

Well i hope this helps you and good luck with what ever you end up trying.
I don't use ProActiv, because I've heard that once you stop using it, your acne comes back double. Or triple. Or whatever.

I use a brand that's really light, and works really well, but it's a pretty obscure brand based in Beverly Hills.

For awhile, I was just using Neutrogena, which worked pretty okay.

Remember to rinse your face with cold water afterwards. Cold water helps to close your pores.
im 16 and i have acne too. i've tried soooo manny things its not even funny. proactive didnt work for me and it's kinda time consuming....and expensive! go to a dermnatologist now before it fets worse b/c it might start to scar and you cant cure that. other than that use PanOxy. it works pretty good and dont over wash b/c it makes ur skin really uncomfortable and dry.
